Let Income Tax Increase Expire - Illinois House Republican Leader Jim Durkin

Let Income Tax Increase Expire

In a lame duck session in 2011, the Democrat-controlled legislature imposed a 67% income tax increase on every working person in the state of Illinois. They promised it was temporary and set it to rollback on January 1, 2015. Now they want to make that tax increase permanent.

We don't think it's right. If you agree, please add your name to the petition below and take the added step of sharing it with your friends.

Let's make them keep their promise.

I believed a reasonable tax increase is one part of Illinois getting out of the red. however, it should be based on how much income you make. less income less increase.

Good luck on getting spending under control. Start by STOP sending downstate money to Chicago! Like money collected from the recorders office (from all counties across the state) for the Chicago Housing Authority. Chicago takes our money and then demands the surrender of our individual rights too!

At what point do all the tax increases end? The current political leaders have made such a mess of things with tax increases and instead of cutting spending they just increase spending. It is getting extremely difficult to justify living in Illinois. Our property taxes continue to go up every year with out justification and the state wants property owners to bail them out of the pension mess that they created. Jobs are getting scarcer in the state because it is so business unfriendly. Rolling back the income tax is at least a step in the right direction. Because the price of gas is down they are also trying to put a $.10 a gallon tax on it. Hey Illinois wake up , just because we have a couple of extra dollars in our pockets you don’t need another tax to take it.

I’m all for reducing expenses or services for a couple of years to get the fiscal house in order. I’m not for tax increases that penalize the homeowners for poor decisions made by corrupt politicians.
