Let Income Tax Increase Expire - Illinois House Republican Leader Jim Durkin

Let Income Tax Increase Expire

In a lame duck session in 2011, the Democrat-controlled legislature imposed a 67% income tax increase on every working person in the state of Illinois. They promised it was temporary and set it to rollback on January 1, 2015. Now they want to make that tax increase permanent.

We don't think it's right. If you agree, please add your name to the petition below and take the added step of sharing it with your friends.

Let's make them keep their promise.

To the Democrats: What is your definition of ‘temporary’?

Residents are leaving Illinois at alarming numbers already. This tax increase would only add fuel to a fire that is almost out of control now.

Leaving the taxes high just encourage folks like me to find a job where I keep more of my earned income.

If IL makes this income tax hike permanent, I will strongly consider moving to another state.

We are being taxed to death in this country, some over 50% of their wages. We need less taxes that will free up consumer spending. It seems so obvious. Why can’t politicians make the much needed move. If we have more money in our pocket to spend on needs and luxuries, this will cause more jobs creation, less government dependence, and ultimately MORE government revenue. We definitely don’t need another temporary tax and an extension to any that are in place!

    Sincerely,

    Steve Paray
