House Republican Leader Jim Durkin Monday recognized the outstanding volunteer efforts of Terri O’Neill Borders of Lemont, presenting her with a Community Enrichment Award. Terri is the Executive Director of the Hope and Friendship Foundation of Lemont.
“For the past 11 years Terri has helped others in need through the Hope and Friendship Foundation. She cares very deeply about the people and community of Lemont and is always putting others ahead of herself. She is a guiding light in the community and is very deserving of this award,” said Durkin.
The mission of the Hope and Friendship Foundation is to extend a hand of friendship to those in a financial, emotional or physical crisis. In addition to her fundraising efforts and helping those in need through the foundation, Terri holds two jobs, serves as the Lemont Police Chaplain, and helps out the Lemont Food Pantry.
Leader Durkin recently created the Community Enrichment Award as a way to honor residents of the 82nd District who demonstrate outstanding leadership and volunteerism in the community.
If you are interested in nominating an individual or organization for the Community Enrichment Award, contact Anthony Dubicki at Leader Durkin’s district office at 630-325-2028 or by email [email protected]. Nominations may also be made through the various Chambers of Commerce within the 82nd District including: Burr Ridge - Willowbrook, Homer Township, Lemont, West Suburban Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
At the request of Leader Durkin, a committee of local business leaders will review the nominations and select the recipients at least four times a year.
