As a State Representative, I’m calling out the unconstitutionality of sweeping legislation critics have said will outlaw many of the guns that are legally held by Illinoisans.

HB 5855 would effectively criminalize ownership of entire classes of firearms by Illinoisans.

This bill would make law-abiding citizens currently in possession of certain unregistered semi-automatic hand guns, rifles, and shotguns into criminals, and ban magazines that hold more than 10 rounds. It would outlaw individual hunting for people under the age of 21 and would require a registration fee of $25 per firearm to be paid to the State of Illinois.
