2023 Ethics Reform Survey

Illinois government has been plagued by corruption for decades. In recent years, politicians in Springfield have stalled efforts to close loopholes in state law that allow a culture of corruption to persist. House Republicans are committed to solutions that will deliver meaningful ethics reform and begin restoring public confidence in the stewardship of our tax dollars.

Currently, members of the Illinois General Assembly – state representatives and state senators – are prohibited from lobbying the State of Illinois, but are not prohibited from lobbying local government units, such as a counties or municipalities. Do you support legislation that would ban members of the General Assembly, their spouses, and immediate live-in family members from performing paid lobbying work with local government units?
