Burr Ridge, IL – State Senator Christine Radogno (R-Lemont) is teaming up with State Representative Jim Durkin (R-Western Springs) to host a FREE community recycle event on Saturday, May 6 from 9 a.m. to noon at Burr Ridge Middle School, 15W451 91st Street, Burr Ridge.
“It is important that we keep our neighborhoods clean and environmentally-friendly,” said Radogno. “Representative Durkin and I host our annual community recycle event to raise awareness about the importance of recycling. We look forward to another great turnout this year and hope to recycle hundreds of items.”
“The month of May brings warm temperatures and spring cleaning. As you clean your homes, basements, and garages purging items you no longer use or need, please consider donating them at our upcoming recycling event. Rather than toss these items into the trash bring them by for others to reuse or repurpose. Our event makes it easy to recycle while helping others,” said Durkin.
Keeling Family Foundation is accepting most electronics such as monitors, computers, VCRs, printers, cameras, radios, IPods, fax machines, and scanners. However, this year televisions will not be accepted. Additional items being collected include building materials, musical instruments, broken crayons, carpet sweepers, cell phones, bread makers, holiday lights, fans, medical equipment, bikes, eye glasses, keys, flags, books, and prescription drugs (no liquids). Document shredding for residents (no commercial) will also be available, but is limited to two boxes per vehicle.
A special thanks to the American Legion Post 1941, AT & T, Burr Ridge Middle School Environmental Club, Cook County Sheriff’s Office, Habitat for Humanity, Keeling Family Foundation VetTech.US, S.C.A.R.C.E. and Working Bikes for making this event possible.
