Please sign my petition and join me in asking Governor Rauner to respect voter intent and veto HB 171.

A few years ago an attempt to increase the powers granted to the McHenry County Board Chairman failed by a 2:1 margin in a county-wide referendum. Shortly after the defeat of that ballot initiative, voters approved a measure that would create a popularly-elected County Board Chairman with limited authority and power. That board structure is currently in place and is working well. The General Assembly recently approved and sent Governor Rauner HB 171, a measure that would increase the power of the County Board Chairman in a few select Illinois counties, including McHenry County. This would directly circumvent the expressed will of the people who resoundingly said “no” to a board leader with a great deal of individual power. Select "Yes" to join me in asking Governor Rauner to respect voter intent and veto HB 171.
