Let Income Tax Increase Expire - Illinois House Republican Leader Jim Durkin

Let Income Tax Increase Expire

In a lame duck session in 2011, the Democrat-controlled legislature imposed a 67% income tax increase on every working person in the state of Illinois. They promised it was temporary and set it to rollback on January 1, 2015. Now they want to make that tax increase permanent.

We don't think it's right. If you agree, please add your name to the petition below and take the added step of sharing it with your friends.

Let's make them keep their promise.

Enough of the high taxes in this state…here’s a novel concept;how about cutting spending! Privatize state pensions. 45% of the budget for 6% of the population is out of the box.

I am retired and my income is now fixed. The spending keeps growing in the government. The taxes keep coming to us. It will break our backs if it continues. I hate to leave Illinois, but I will. I refuse to be abused by elected officials.

The extreme taxation in this country has brought us to our knees. I believe taxes are necessary to financially sustain our govt. but excessive taxation has ruined us.

The income tax was to be temporary only. If the State Gov’t cannot properly allocate its revenue, it shouldn’t get any, and I mean any. The State has a poor system in place to collect sales taxes, and to collect income taxes from businesses. It relies on the honesty of the individual taxpayer to account for their liability. If the average taxpayer knew this, things would be worse than they are. The fact that this situation exists scares me to think what corporations are really doing with State taxes owed.

The rampant wastefulness and corruption that pervades this state undermines the moral authority of our state government to rule over us. My out- of- state college educated children are preparing us for their exit from the state for lower taxes. Our property taxes are skyrocketing. A mortgage can be paid off….but the property taxes never will. The ignorance of the Cook County/Chicago electorate are destroying the state. The economic ignoramuses screaming for an increase in the minimum wage have no understanding of how business works.

You the Politian, MY representative made a promise that should be kept. You were sent to office to represent me and my neighbors, now keep up your end of the deal. It is time to stop taking money for those who work hard and giving it to those who choose not to work. As we have seen for the past 30 plus years that throwing money at welfare is not working. Let the people keep their money and spend it as they see fit.
