Let Income Tax Increase Expire - Illinois House Republican Leader Jim Durkin

Let Income Tax Increase Expire

In a lame duck session in 2011, the Democrat-controlled legislature imposed a 67% income tax increase on every working person in the state of Illinois. They promised it was temporary and set it to rollback on January 1, 2015. Now they want to make that tax increase permanent.

We don't think it's right. If you agree, please add your name to the petition below and take the added step of sharing it with your friends.

Let's make them keep their promise.

Cut back on spending instead of increasing taxes.

I am sick of what is being done that harms our state and make it less attractive for people to live and prosper in the State of Illinois. These tax increases are simply to provide a means for the Democrats to buy votes. Do we really want to have a state that resembles Detroit, Michigan. Higher taxes are forcing people to flee our state. Who leaves, is it the poor? No, because they cannot afford to uproot and leave. It is the upper middle class and rich who take their money and run. I encourage the State Legislature to do whatever it can to block spending and to block tax increases. The excuse of needed revenues is a hoax. This is purely a spending issue.
