Let Income Tax Increase Expire - Illinois House Republican Leader Jim Durkin

Let Income Tax Increase Expire

In a lame duck session in 2011, the Democrat-controlled legislature imposed a 67% income tax increase on every working person in the state of Illinois. They promised it was temporary and set it to rollback on January 1, 2015. Now they want to make that tax increase permanent.

We don't think it's right. If you agree, please add your name to the petition below and take the added step of sharing it with your friends.

Let's make them keep their promise.

state spending in any fiscal year should NEVER be more than the income from the previous year !!! Any surplus at the end of a fiscal year should be spent ONLY on past due bills until there are none, then go into an emergency reserve fund. No legislator nor any government employee should be given any increased salary or any benefit of any kind, neither current nor future benefit while the state is in debt. Any legislator who signs any spending bill that exceeds the budget for the current fiscal year should be removed from office for life and charged criminally !!!

How can Democrats pass a Budget that is unconstitutional? How can Democrats “force” the tax hike to be permanent? Governor Quinn and Speaker Madigan need to be removed from office!

Of course we knew this was coming. There is no such thing as a “temporary” tax in the Democrat vocabulary.

The Democrats are being totally irresponsible in this budget matter. They are destroying Illinois!
