Let Income Tax Increase Expire - Illinois House Republican Leader Jim Durkin

Let Income Tax Increase Expire

In a lame duck session in 2011, the Democrat-controlled legislature imposed a 67% income tax increase on every working person in the state of Illinois. They promised it was temporary and set it to rollback on January 1, 2015. Now they want to make that tax increase permanent.

We don't think it's right. If you agree, please add your name to the petition below and take the added step of sharing it with your friends.

Let's make them keep their promise.

As a business owner in this state I find the tactics of the Democrats in charge to be reprehensible. I will vote all incumbent democrats out of office this midterm election.

We are being taxed to death in this country, some over 50% of their wages. We need less taxes that will free up consumer spending. It seems so obvious. Why can’t politicians make the much needed move. If we have more money in our pocket to spend on needs and luxuries, this will cause more jobs creation, less government dependence, and ultimately MORE government revenue. We definitely don’t need another temporary tax and an extension to any that are in place!

Stupid is what Stupid does. We keep electing the same people that got us into this mess and then asking them to clean up their mess. They respond by doubling down and doing more of the same that got us into the mess. TN or TX is starting to look very appealing before max exodus and property values plummet.

Like Brad Thor, I am planning on leaving this State as soon as I can, unless things change dramatically.

I’ll sign for the sake of others. We are already planning on moving to another State and look forward to the simplicity of not filing a state income tax and arguing over an excessive and oppressive property tax that keeps families from improving there lively hood.

The people of Illinois didn’t get us into a financial mess. Our elected officials did. If you cannot operate within your means, it’s time to elect folks who know how to handle a budget. It’s clear, if you want to keep raising taxes to balance the budget, you are incompetent to hold office.

The State of Illinois needs to cut expenditures and not increase taxes.

It was my opinion that a tax increase of 67% was outrageous in the first place. That’s the kind of thing I would expect to see from a loan shark in a mafia movie.
