Let Income Tax Increase Expire - Illinois House Republican Leader Jim Durkin

Let Income Tax Increase Expire

In a lame duck session in 2011, the Democrat-controlled legislature imposed a 67% income tax increase on every working person in the state of Illinois. They promised it was temporary and set it to rollback on January 1, 2015. Now they want to make that tax increase permanent.

We don't think it's right. If you agree, please add your name to the petition below and take the added step of sharing it with your friends.

Let's make them keep their promise.

Let this tax increase expire as was the initial intention when it went into affect. Cut the spending, we don’t have a bottomless bucket to dip from.

It’s not surprising that they don’t keep their word at the state government level regarding the “temporary” tax increase. They are just living up their reputation as corrupt and untrustworthy. Illinois is known for that. Have lived here 30 years and our state government still disgusts me. A major change in the controlling party is what’s needed. Taxes are like drugs to a junkie. Politicians can never get enough. Time for some serious detox.

    Temporary means Temporary…

Spend it, like you would your Own…

Politicians should be held Personally, and FISCALLY RESPONSIBLE for spending overruns in budgets !!

Nevada has no income tax, an inhospitable climate and yet 100’s of millions of dollars are flowing in as investment. Maybe we don’t need higher taxes but at minimum a freeze on our prior rate to attract business investment and larger tax base. What we are doing now isn’t working. It’s has just become an excuse to spend more vs. drawing down our debt.

We cannot afford to have the politicians in Springfield run this state into the ground. Some people can’t leave the state (as many are doing) and there needs to be some sanity restored. Set a budget based on what you have to spend-like individuals must do- not on what you want or special interests want you to spend!

Since state government makes no money, and only takes ours to operate, cut spending because its impossible to tax the people into prosperity.
