Let Income Tax Increase Expire - Illinois House Republican Leader Jim Durkin

Let Income Tax Increase Expire

In a lame duck session in 2011, the Democrat-controlled legislature imposed a 67% income tax increase on every working person in the state of Illinois. They promised it was temporary and set it to rollback on January 1, 2015. Now they want to make that tax increase permanent.

We don't think it's right. If you agree, please add your name to the petition below and take the added step of sharing it with your friends.

Let's make them keep their promise.

To originally lie that this is a temporary tax and then want to continue it when it expires is just another example of the ineptitude of this state’s government. Take, take, take until there is nothing left, then wonder how we’ll solve our problems. Just like the pensions. They act like the public will just continue to go along while they drive us deeper and deeper into debt. We are not their fall guys, or are we? Stop this nonsense before it IS too late.

Birock Obama should have his library built out of privately raised funds, just like every other past president. Don’t use our taxpayer money for that project.

Unless we get more people working, the tax burden gets placed on fewer and fewer people – and many of those who pay the taxes are now moving out of the state.
