ADDISON— State Representatives Dennis Reboletti (R-Addison), Angelo “Skip” Saviano (R-Elmwood Park), Jim Durkin (R-Western Springs) and Michael Connelly (R-Lisle) will be hosting a jobs fair for area veterans in conjunction with the Illinois Department of Employment Security from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on September 6, 2012 at the Addison Township Gymnasium at 401 N. Addison Road.
“Our state's veterans have experience, education and training that are of great value to any employer. Veterans are highly motivated and skilled individuals. This is a great opportunity to make the connection between our heroes and potential employers.” said Rep. Saviano.
All veterans who are interested in businesses that want to hire former military members are invited to attend. Those who attend should be prepared to talk with multiple employers about open positions in the Chicago area. It is advised that candidates bring up to date resumes with contact information for the recruitment vendors.
“It is unfortunate that the economic downturn of 2008 has hit our veterans the hardest,” said Reboletti. “Service members returning home from Iraq and Afghanistan are struggling to find work in this tough, economy. We need to make every effort to help those who have given so much to us.”
This fair provides an opportunity for veterans seeking jobs to have access to a numerous of employers that are hiring in one venue.
“Illinois’ veterans volunteered to serve our country, this job fair is just a small service we can provide for them,” said Rep. Durkin.
“Veterans are proven, trained, hardworking, dedicated citizens,” said Connelly. “Any employer who makes a concerted effort to hire veterans is building a competitively strong workforce.”
