Graduated Tax Petition - Illinois House Republican Leader Jim Durkin

Graduated Tax Petition

We, the undersigned, oppose the Democrats' Graduated Income Tax proposal. Under current Illinois law, the individual income tax rate will be 3.75 percent in 2015. Under a new plan, however, a higher 4 percent rate kicks in for people earning just $18,000. That income tax rate targets Illinois’ working class.

Illinois taxpayers…listen up and be aware! This isn’t about fairness. It’s about increasing revenues to fuel even more spending! Illinois govenment can’t reign their spending NOW. Illinois is known for its massive governmental corruption and waste. Add another $2.4 billion to line their theiving pockets?? Oh, and remember the 67% tax increase in 2011 didn’t solve Illinois financial problems. Neither will this train-wreck of a proposal.

Enough of those taxes. How about NO MORE STATE INCOME TAXES, just like Texas and other states that done away with state income taxes. The state of Illinois needs to learn how budget big time.

Just recently moved back to Carbondale and the tax burden is much higher than other places we have lived. It is frustrating.

We don’t need higher or new taxes. We need less spending.

Please stop the bill that would change the simple flat rate to a complicated graduated form. If this changes to higher rates rich people will leave Illinois.
