Graduated Tax Petition - Illinois House Republican Leader Jim Durkin

Graduated Tax Petition

We, the undersigned, oppose the Democrats' Graduated Income Tax proposal. Under current Illinois law, the individual income tax rate will be 3.75 percent in 2015. Under a new plan, however, a higher 4 percent rate kicks in for people earning just $18,000. That income tax rate targets Illinois’ working class.

Reps need to fix the problems they’ve created already, not create new problems at tax payers’ expense.

Most of the legislators in Springfield are totall out of touch with what is necessary and what is not.

Thank you for a common sense approach. Citizens, especially senior citizens, cannot afford any more taxes. More taxes and there will be more people moving from the state. How long are the people outside the collar counties going to have to keep supporting Chicago and Cook County? I say it has been too long already.

Thank you for the opportunity to express my view.

The wise thing to do is bring more businesses back to Illinois and use the revenue from them instead of continuously raising taxes wherever you see fit with the little guy. Make it easy for people to create and sell American made products instead of giving it all to other countries and “their people.”

Enough is enough, the State already gets too much of our hard earned money. Make the State live on a budget. Cut or freeze all programs until expenses are in line with revenue.

We need less government in this state. There is way too much wasted tax dollars no way would I agree to any increases.

If the state keeps raising taxes on the working citizens of Illinois, they will continue to see the massive departure of said citizens. Why would anyone want to stay here when they can go to Wisconsin or Indiana and not be fleeced by the corruption Illinois exudes? The pension mess is not solved here — but in Wisconsin they now have a surplus. But our politicians pass something that is a facade, and then slap themselves on the back and tell us what a good job they are doing. They are destroying this state. Raise the income tax again and watch more people leave!
