Graduated Tax Petition - Illinois House Republican Leader Jim Durkin

Graduated Tax Petition

We, the undersigned, oppose the Democrats' Graduated Income Tax proposal. Under current Illinois law, the individual income tax rate will be 3.75 percent in 2015. Under a new plan, however, a higher 4 percent rate kicks in for people earning just $18,000. That income tax rate targets Illinois’ working class.

Another reason why the GOP is losing—you have lost sight of what the public needs. It is amazing how many times in the last few years that you all do not have a clue!

I oppose any change that increases our individual taxes. As a retiree I can’t afford to pay more taxes.

let the increase expire and keep the flat tax. Springfield has proved it can’t be trusted with our money.

I might have an inkling of sympathy for this IF – and only IF – the unions did their share and IF the legislature cut the budget. You have already raised by income tax 67% – it’s time for all parties to chip in.

Don’t these people realize that if they put in a graduated tax the state will likely have less money after all the businesses and higher income individuals leave the state.

As a small business owner (S-Corp) I do not believe it’s fair to penalize individuals’ income when the business income flows through. We are not realizing personal wealth from our business income.

Oppose the graduated income tax, repeal the “temporary” income tax increase and live on a balanced budget, like every citizen, every family, every farmer and every business must do !!!!
