Graduated Tax Petition - Illinois House Republican Leader Jim Durkin

Graduated Tax Petition

We, the undersigned, oppose the Democrats' Graduated Income Tax proposal. Under current Illinois law, the individual income tax rate will be 3.75 percent in 2015. Under a new plan, however, a higher 4 percent rate kicks in for people earning just $18,000. That income tax rate targets Illinois’ working class.

The financial situation in IL is tied directly to decades of extraordinarily poor management of a more than adequate tax roll. Based on undeniable historic data, increased taxes will not help but rather will simply equate to more gross waste. My IL property tax bill is $15,000 per year, yet my schools are mediocre and my roads are falling apart. NO MORE MONEY for the MADIGAN MACHINE!! Now we want to drop $100M into a library for O’Bama??? Come on!!! This state is in the vortex of a proverbial toilet flush… Reality does not have a bearing on our fiscal policy. NO MORE TAXES for OUR STATE LEGISTATURE to CONTINUE to SQUANDER!!!!!! Enough already…

Excess truck license fees drove 17,000 tractor registrations out of Illinois the next year. 2% extra income tax drove 2000 manufacturing jobs out of Illinois is the next two years. The more you tax, the faster people and companies flee Illinois. When will Illinois Politicians be for the people instead of for the pay for play special interest groups that fund reelection slush funds.
