Graduated Tax Petition - Illinois House Republican Leader Jim Durkin

Graduated Tax Petition

We, the undersigned, oppose the Democrats' Graduated Income Tax proposal. Under current Illinois law, the individual income tax rate will be 3.75 percent in 2015. Under a new plan, however, a higher 4 percent rate kicks in for people earning just $18,000. That income tax rate targets Illinois’ working class.

It’s also time to let the “temporary” income tax increase expire. Everyone laughed when it was supposed to be “temporary”. Let’s get it back to 2% or do like some states and eliminate it altogether. Our state should be able to live with a budget supported by the sales tax that we already have. Here’s an idea… cut the fat out of the state government, unnecessary employees and staff, and lavish expense accounts, and get the budget down to a reasonable amount. You’re already taxing money we earn, then turn around and tax us again when we spend what’s left of it. I’ve always thought that political offices should be volunteer, no pay, and have strict term limits.

    Dear Representative Sandack,

As a resident of your district, I am growing concerned with the talk of increasing Illinois taxes again, this time through a “graduated” or “fair” tax. Our overall Illinois taxes are already huge. Your own government benefits (incl. paid time off, health care, and pensions – yes, staggering pensions) are excessive. Fix these! Do your job! Stop living off our backs!

Our property taxes are already huge! If you look at how much we have paid in Illinois taxes, between property taxes, state income taxes, and sales taxes – the amount is absolutely staggering… esp. when accumulated over thirty plus years. My God, REFORM is what we need. I am going to sick Bruce Rauner on all of of you guys! You have not done your jobs to the best of your abilities.

If you have not done so already, please go on the record against a progressive tax hike. The best way to do this is to become a cosponsor of House Resolution 241. I look forward to hearing about your decision.

    Thank you,

    Very Concerned Voters

It is time for everyone to vote out democrats from the house, senate and other elected positions. They have ruined Illinois to make us the laughing stock of America.

Even Stevie Wonder can see this is another scheme to raise taxes on middle class families. QUIT SPENDING ! QUIT SPENDING! QUIT SPENDING! Except if the Illinois State Capitol needs six copper-clad doors costing $700,000.00. (attempting to be humorous) What a waste of taxpayers’ monies……..

We are strongly opposed to the progressive state income tax. Please do everything you reasonably can to prevent the progressive state income tax bill from passing. It must be defeated in Springfield.

I believe a flat tax is a fair tax for Illinois. Everyone should have some skin in the game. It is fair for all.
