Durkin Sponsors American Flag Exchange Program
WESTERN SPRINGS – In observance of Independence Day, State Rep. Jim Durkin (R-Western Springs) is sponsoring a free American flag exchange program. Residents of the 82nd District who have a U.S. flag that is worn, ripped or tattered can bring it to Durkin’s Western Springs legislative office to have it properly disposed of and in return, will receive a brand new flag free of charge.
“It’s the time of year to celebrate our country’s independence and honor those men and women who have or currently serve in our armed forces,” said Durkin. “I strongly encourage my constituents to take advantage of this exchange program and drop off their old flag and pick up a new one.”
Beginning on June 25th through July 3rd residents can exchange their old flags between 9am-5pm at 915 55th Street, Suite 202, Western Springs, IL 60558. The exchange program will be first come, first serve and will be available while supplies last.
The American Legion will properly dispose of old flags turned in during the exchange program.
