New committee assignments bring change for veteran lawmaker

SPRINGFIELD—With the start of the new General Assembly, State Rep. Jim Durkin (R-Western Springs) has a new set of committee assignments and will now be bringing his prosecutorial energy to the newly created Accountability and Administrative Review Committee.

“Committees are an important part of legislative process; and while the new legislative rules have cut some potenncy out of the committee process there is still value to the work we do,” Durkin stated. “The Committee for Accountability and Administrative Review could preside over some solid proposals aimed at protecting the taxpayers of Illinois.”

Durkin, an attorney and former state and county prosecutor will also serve as a member of the Transportation: Regulation, Roads & Bridges committee, the Judiciary committee, the Financial Institutions committee and the Housing committee.

Durkin represents portions of Cook, Will and DuPage Counties of the newly drawn 82nd Legislative District. The District includes portions of Burr Ridge, Dairen, Homer Glen, LaGrange, Lemont, Western Springs and Willowbrook among others.

During the previous General Assembly, Rep. Durkin served on Public Utilities, Environment and Energy and the now dormant Redistricting Committee.
